Bravo Execs Are Reportedly Furious That Bethenny Frankel Quit RHONY Days After Filming Began For Sea

Bethenny Frankel shocked her fans and co-stars earlier this week when she announced that she was leaving the Real Housewives of New York City for a second time. Frankel says she is starting a new chapter in her life, which includes a partnership with MGM Television and Mark Burnett to produce new unscripted projects, and insiders say Frankel has left Bravo execs furious.

Frankel announced her partnership with MGM and Burnett back in March, and a source says her Bravo bosses were “very upset” about the news.

“A Housewife can do a one-off show like Dancing With the Stars…not a regular series in reality TV. Everyone was p***ed off,” an insider told Radar Online. “For all the things the network has done for Bethenny, it was a slap in the face.”

Still, they kept Frankel on RHONY because she is “good TV,” but her decision to leave the show – and her goodbye statement that she posted on social media – upset a lot of people that helped make her a star.

The source explained that Frankel was the one who drove the drama on RHONY, but she said in her statement that she wanted to produce television that represented “a shift in the conversation for women.” The implication was that Bravo and the Real Housewives franchise wasn’t living up to her standards for representing women in the media.

Frankel was an original RHONY cast member in Season 1, but she left after Season 3 only to return for Season 7 where she remained part of the cast until her recent announcement.

The SkinnyGirl mogul did say in her farewell statement that she started her journey on RHONY as a single woman in her 30s who was broke and living in a tiny apartment. Thanks to some amazing foresight, Frankel negotiated a contract that allowed her to promote her businesses and products, and that led to her launching her SkinnyGirl brand with a national platform, and it made her a multi-millionaire.

There’s no doubt that Bravo made Bethenny Frankel a household name, and her decision to break ties with the network isn’t going over well. Her co-stars have voiced their unhappiness about Frankel not talking to them before she announced her exit, but they have also said that the show will be just fine without her.
