Garry James Brush extradited over Shane Ross, Cameron Martin murders

Police have taken no risks with a man extradited from NSW over the alleged murders of business associates on the Gold Coast, placing him in leg chains as they transported him to Southport Magistrates Court.

Garry James Brush, 32, has been charged over the shooting deaths of Shane Ross, 36, and Cameron Martin, 47, at Tallebudgera in October 2019.

The murdered men were business associates.

The body of Mr Ross was found in a park at Tallebudgera while Mr Martin died about a kilometre away in a single-vehicle crash.

Police at the time alleged both men had been shot.

Brush was extradited from Grafton, NSW, to the Gold Coast on Wednesday, ahead of his appearance at Southport Magistrates Court on Thursday.

He has been charged with two counts of murder and one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

Footage of his transportation to Southport Magistrates Court showed him in handcuffs and leg chains as he was whisked to an awaiting vehicle.

His case was adjourned until March 18.

Two other men have been charged over the deaths of Mr Ross and Mr Martin.

South Eastern Police Region detective Superintendent Brendan Smith said it was a complex and difficult investigation.

“Detectives will leave no stone unturned,” Superintendent Smith said after Brush’s extradition.

“We will continue to investigate to ensure all of those involved in these murders are arrested and brought before the courts.”
