Married at First Sight UK star Adrian Sanderson has hit out at his former telly husband Thomas Hartley branding him a "cruel bully" as he cut ties.
The couple were paired up by MAFS UK experts - Mel Schilling, Paul C. Brunson, and Charlene Douglas - during the 2022 series and had a tumultuous time on the show. Thomas and Adrian had multiple bust-ups during the show but eventually left the process after realising they weren't compatible.
The former couple remained pals after filming wrapped, but both stars admitted that they kept falling out once the cameras stopped rolling. However, after Thomas told his followers to stop sending him photos of Adrian and new MAFS contestant Nathanial Valentino out for lunch, the exes ramped up their feud.
In a lengthy Instagram post, Adrian firmly cut ties with his former spouse in a rant branding Thomas a "cruel bully". He wrote: "To finally end what has been a very tumultuous journey. Our time on MAFS was unforgettable and at times Thomas was a supportive person and we grew a love for each other through hard work, love and learning.
"But to the rest of the group I was consistently worried Tom would be perceived as unkind, in-compassionate and a bully. I tried to help him, to give him time, to understand him and he absolutely grew.
"During the tv show airing, it has been all too easy to forget all of the cruel jokes he pushed upon me. The consistent insight of hate towards me & other cast members. He also insisted towards my family, and he repeatedly attempted to shame my friend from the wedding."
Adrian continued: "While my friend did bite back at Thomas, the edit did not show the behaviour of him or his mother. They both gave my friend every right to stand up for me. She did and I thank her for it. No matter what the edit showed, she was only concerned for my welfare.
"Due to his own battles, I found understanding and was able to move past all of the cruel, unkind, trolling things that he had said to both me and many that I love. But it is now time to close that chapter. I will no longer associate myself with someone who is at the core…a bully.
"No matter what life has dealt you, no one can get away with the behaviour that Thomas displays. Even when he puts political stances in place in order to protect himself, through false accusations and a skill to turn a positive into a negative, he has little regard to how he is a threat to people’s mental health and well-being."
He concluded: "I tried to speak to him to find resolve in the airing period, but he knew he could not justify his abhorrent behaviour and therefore would not answer his phone, & finally blocked me. I hope nothing but happiness for him and I hope that he gets the love and support that he needs in order to move on from his pain and become a better person. I tried to help.
"Thank you for all the support that you have shown me, but with Thomas again today, in-sighting further hate upon me, and other cast, it’s time to end it. I am disappointed in myself I did not do this soon."
While Thomas initially said he had nothing to say regarding Adrian's post, and wouldn't address the issue, he then shared a video of his mum's response.
In a video posted to Thomas' Instagram, his mum Helen said: "Adrian, don't come for me unless I send for you. A, because I am an old woman and B, because it's more than a year ago. I have seen the posts and honestly, I just don't know what you are on about."
She continued: "I think you are a bit mixed up. I know you are probably doing this for a bit of publicity or a bit of clout. I just find it hugely disappointing. The last time I was with you you cried because I was so kind to you."
